Game Summary: The Games is a roleplay based on the Hunger Games, following characters brought in through other worlds through trials in the Arena and their time outside of it. Much of their time is spent in the Capitol, where escorts, victors, and stylists can help the tributes. Or not.

How long was your character in Game: ~5, 6 months or so
History of Character in their Game: Sybille’s history is not so complicated as some other characters, largely due to her role within the game. As an escort, most of Sybille’s time was spent dealing with victors and tributes and watching the arenas unfold. In the context of the game, she had been an escort for years before the offworld tributes began trickling in. Much of her day-to-day was spent making sure her tributes weren’t getting into too much trouble, and trying to keep things rolling smoothly.

Her efforts weren’t always appreciated, but she made them.

The first Crowning Sybille worked at was one of a District 3 tribute, luckily enough. Maximus, an honest to god Gladiator, would win the dual candyland-dessert wasteland arena, putting Sybille in quite a favorable position. The next Crowning would be that of Enjolras, several months later.

But in between Arenas and Crownings, Sybille kept busy. She was responsibly for herding cats during the Capitol charity auction, which would be easier said than done if it wasn’t for tributes like Terezi Pyrope, who would remain outspoken and defiant no matter how much they were reminded they could be snuffed out at a moments notice.

Things were being set in motion behind the scenes, though, beyond the Arenas and glamorous capitol life. A breach in the tunnels connecting District 2 and the Capitol were the first signs that there was danger brewing on the horizon for the Capitol, with monsters pulled in from somewhere being released onto the city. Asides from that, several messages intended to stir up rebellious thoughts began appearing around the Capitol, and it even went so far as to appear on the allegedly-closed network those working the Games could use.

It was a sign of things to come, and Sybille could read the writing on the wall.

The really turning point for Sybille’s opinion shifting from on-the-fence to opposing the Games and the Capitol was the assassination of Ariadne. It was...a pointless display of violence and control to a woman who was accused of a crime nobody could prove she had committed. It did not sit well with Sybille, not at all.

But, as an escort, speaking of her discontent would have her killed, and Sybille would be much more disposable than an Offworlder Tribute the populace adored. She didn’t have much choice beyond trying to return to herding cats and keeping things in control, as the Arenas would still progress and victors - such as Enjolras, winner of the Arena after Maximus’- would keep needing to be celebrated.

How did they change from their canon personality wise (Please explain what caused it to happen?) Most of Sybille’s changes were subtle, a slow change to becoming more and more critical of the Capitol and more and more supportive of the tributes and the district citizens. She’s a woman who’s very aware of how presentation matters, however, so she’ll keep pretending that everything is Totally Fine.

People being assassinated to make a statement kind of puts a damper on speaking out, weirdly.

The largest change was Sybille becoming softer, more genuinely caring. It’s still difficult for her to show genuine emotion, but seeing the same tributes die over and over again has helped her fully realize how terrible the Games truly are. Being able to become attached to people only to see them go opened her eyes to how much the people in the districts have to be suffering every year, and it made it harder to ignore sympathy. She’s not-quite all the way nurturing, though her concerns became less about how people would be viewed, and what’s actually best for them. All in all, she’s just...nicer. Gentler.

Terezi Pyrope: One of Sybille’s Offworld Tributes, Terezi and Sybille’s initial reactions weren’t….Well, they weren’t very good. The two found it very difficult to see eye-to-eye, though overtime they came close to almost understanding them. Terezi was a child from a cruel world who had been through so much, and her constant question and defiance essentially forced Sybille to reassess her views on the Capitol. They ended up forming a rapport with each other based on snide jokes and aside, but their interactions became less barbed as time went on.

The Signless: While not a troll Sybille would work with directly, he helped shaped her opinion on trolls and how the Capitol treated them. Their species was an oddity, for the similarities and differences with humans, and the fact there was more of them than any other alien. The Signless made a comment Sybille couldn’t forget - that she was one of the only people he had met from the Capitol that talked to him like his questions were worth answering, and not like he was a sideshow attraction. Hearing that she was unique amongst the Capitol for something like that did not sit well with Sybille - and it made her wonder why it was so hard for those she grew up with, worked around, to treat people like...people? Why does being in the Games remove that?

Sherlock Holmes (Game Native AU): While the two had prior history, due to Sherlock being AU’d as a District 3 victor, they did not necessarily view each other positively. The fact that Sherlock was called back into a mentorship role was cause for concern - it seemed to be a sign that the Capitol was in over their head. The two would probably never reach a point of comfortable friendship, but with the idea of people she knew returning to the line of fire starting to fester, there was the knowledge that there were now actual stakes from herself. Sherlock’s return was a catalyst for her not wanting to let things that were hers go, even if that something was a person she didn’t particularly like.

Those are the characters that had the biggest change that is the easiest to pin down to specific interactions or qualities, though in general, getting to know the people who would go on to die in the Arenas just to come back and be sent to die again had a major impact on how Sybille became more open and softer. Getting to know the tributes over a period of months instead of days, learning their histories, and seeing them suffer just to know it would happen again and again until the Capitol was satisfied gave Sybille a reason to start offering them some kindness. Being an escort was something Sybille had been proud of, but seeing the Offworld Tributes treated the way they were and suffering worse than District residents had prior made her question her role in it all. If she could be less cruel than those around her, just to make things more bearable, she would take it.

Essentially, everyone Sybille would meet made her realize she was standing on a side she wasn’t sure she wanted to be on, but didn’t know how to leave. Getting along or helping people was the least she could do to help, and eventually that meant she started genuinely caring beyond how to feel less terrible for the atrocity she was partaking in.

How did they change from their canon physically (Please explain what caused it to happen?): No visible changes! One of the benefits of being out of the line of fire.
Powers: N/A, Sybille is just a normal human lady.
Possessions: Fancy capitol clothing, as well as some more practical, less avant-garde pieces.
A robotic spider, purely decorative
Just a bunch of fancy knick knacks, really.
She might be rich but she doesn’t have anything really sentimental that would come in with her.

Please provide three samples from your previous game, at least one will have to be third person with context:
Sample One: Sherlock and Sybille were clearly bffs
Sample Two: Meeting Shion.
Sample Three: Sybille and Terezi almost having a Moment

Notes: Apologies for any sort of missing information, things with the Games became kind of hard to track down so I might have missed a few more minor or inconsequential things.
