History: Sybille was born to a wealthy family, but in the Capitol everyone is wealthy and lives in excess, so that's not really worth noting. What is worth noting is the fact that they were a stylist duo, so Sybille grew up surrounded by the glitz and glamor of the Games. She wasn't so much enamored with that, though, growing bored of it in her teenage years. She found herself more drawn to the tributes then the parties and the spectacle, even though she thrived at the attention she would receive at parties. She found herself enamored with the idea of tributes, and it was using her parents connections to the Games that she managed to land a job as an escort.

Of course, it's not as simple as that. After all, the Games aren't all there is to life, and she didn't care much for the Games to begin with. As a child she resented the Games and how they stole away her parents attention as they slaved over their designs, and she was raised mostly by a family friend who spent more time gushing about fashion and her parents then actually watching what Sybille did.

In her adolescent years she would be taken to parties by her parents, and she was first introduced to the full Games experience when she was eight years old. She was young, but it was a party held by and for the escorts and stylists and therefor much smaller then any other Capitol affair going on at the time. She grew enamored with the escorts and their stories of going to the Districts to bring in the tributes, and as young girl she decided that's what she was going to do.

After puberty, she forgot about that decision. She went through a rebellious phase she finds embarrassing now, but that she won't deny. She found the Games to be far too mainstream, and decided not to celebrate it. This phase lasted for years and she fell very heavily into drinking and partying during other times of the years, really only being sober when the Games were going on. It wasn't anyone seemed to concern about, but after too many mornings where she woke up with no memories she decided enough was enough. It was hard being sober in the Capitol, with the endless parties and soirees and everyone's obsessive need to be seen and heard. There weren't enough chances for her, but it was through a comparably small party her parents threw (their theme was "quaint", so the guest list was short - only a hundred!), she met one of the very first escorts she ever knew. The meeting was chance, and they only exchanged a few words, but...it was enough of a reminder and motivation for her to turn to her parents, who had actually retired from styling a few years ago. They had enough pull to help her out, and she wound up aside to District 8, which while not quite as bad as 12, was bad enough that it wasn't a glamorous position at all. A few years down the line a tribute one, and then she continued working slowly until at the age of 32 she landed a position with District 3.

That was four years ago, and she's quite pleased with being assigned 3. She finds she prefers brains over brawn, and she likes tributes that can outwit others more then ones who just simply overpower the others, and she has no plans to change to a different district.

Presentation: Sybille comes across as one thing: heartless. She seems closed off and harsh, treating those around her all the same. She's blunt and more often then not cruel, finding humor in the flaws and misfortune of others. She doesn't know why anyone would deserve better treatment then any other, and she sees everyone as being on the same level. That level just o happens to be below her. She doesn't bother trying to hide the fact that she's constantly judging other Capitolites, but really, everyone expects it. She speaks always with thinly veiled contempt, verbally holding everyone from arms length. She's very selective about the parties she goes to, and will spend the majority of them picking up on gossip. She enjoys finding every little secret, and everyone knows that whispered words will probably find their way to her. She comes across as manipulative and secretive, but somehow with knowledge of every little piece of gossip. She wants to keep herself safe, and she has things she wants to keep secret. She knows what would happen to her if her image of cold and collected and harsh was broken, because she sees it happen constantly with others who aren't so careful. So she doesn't mind that public opinion of her is a bitch, because that's how she would rather be seen.

That's not to say that she's necessarily disrespectful. She's whip smart, and she knows that no matter how much she loathes someone she can't necessarily treat someone the way she feels. She's wary of the Gamemakers and Snow, and she doesn't want to end up suffering in some way. She puts herself as top priority, and she's capable of biting her tongue in self-preservation...when it's someone in a position of actual power. Another escort, or a stylist, mentor, or tribute? They get the full Sybille, as cruel and acerbic as she can be because she knows that they don't have the same power as a Gamemaker or the president. Being snarky and rude to one of them wont put her life on the line, but she's still always careful to make sure she doesn't say anything that would put those in power on edge.

The tributes get both the best and worst treatment. When she travels to the districts her image goes with her. She's icy to the district politicians, and she keeps herself closed off and away from the tributes and their families. She makes she they've had time to say their goodbyes, but she never shows any emotions. She can put on a show for the reaping, but she's always conscious of the fact that every thing she does is a show for the Capitol. Job security is very important to her. Sybille doesn't sugarcoat anything, and that includes telling her tributes their chances of survivals. She knows they're likely to die because they're not careers, and she doesn't believe in false hope. She finds that needlessly cruel and actually thinks that the way she handles the mortality of her tributes to be better then saying they've got a fighting chance. Despite this, she can be kind...ish. If a tribute is upset she will try to comfort them, at least to the point where they can enter the arena without tears. She's not very good at comforting, between her belief that her tributes are more often then not doomed to die at the hand of a career, and the fact that she's spent a solid decade cutting herself off from her emotions and working as hard as she could to stop getting attached to anyone.

One thing she seem attached to is sex, because she's a very sexual person. She flirts and sleeps around, and she enjoys it. It's one of the few things that she opens up about, one of the few things she doesn't keep private. She's picky about her partners, but only as far as making sure it's someone who can handle her and who isn't a spineless pushover. Gender, social rank, career? None of that really matters, because she doesn't see how that's as important as how a person can handle her barbs. Outside of sexual partners Sybille can't stand people who handle her brand of humor and the way she handles herself. She doesn't have the patience for people who are delicate or easily offended, and she hates censoring herself for some delicate flower of a socialite.

She has a cruel and dark sense of humor, which means she enjoys the gruesomeness of the Games. She's fond of the violence and the emotions of it, and she loves the reactions others have. One of her favorite things to do is people watch, and she finds the other Capitol citizens to be one of the most entertaining part of the Games. She thrives on the fashion and the fuss, and on tearing down those who go too far in the extreme, or those who don't go far enough. She's offended many people at parties with her mockery, and by the fact that she doesn't seem affected at all when people try to tear her apart, because her image is her life. The way she presents herself is one of the few things that will help her keep her job as an escort for 3, because in the Capitol, image is everything. Everything that people see she's worked hard to create, from her style to how unaffected she is over what happens during the Games. She keeps consistent style, and makes sure that every time she steps out she looks impeccable and has something for people to notice and talk about, no matter how small or subtle a thing would be. She definitely has a motif of spiders, and according to her having something consistent, whether it's a color or an animal or some sort of an accessory is one of the smartest thing to do in the Capitol. No matter how well people know her, they'll remember the spiders, and she thrives off of being memorable and fins that spiders and their poison are pretty accurate for who she is. She likes the idea of being someone who can capture someone and they'll be none the wiser until the end, and she's not immune to the desire for attention. She became an escort for many reasons, and one of them was just simply because it seemed like such a glamorous, amazing career. She's particular about the way she's seen, but that's not atypical for someone in her position. The glitz and glamour keep her working, and she feels like she'll never get the attention she needs in another career. Nothing can compare to her life now that she's an escort, and she won't sacrifice her position for anything.

Motivations: She's not completely cold, though. She still has feelings and emotions that she can't control, and the only reason she seems so heartless and unaffected is because she's spent so long cultivating that image. She's been an escort for over a decade now, and she's sent so many children to the death, several of them barely old enough to be drawn. It was harder then she had expected it to be in the beginning, and she couldn't help herself from getting attached and seeing the tributes as something like her siblings, or the older she got, her actual kids. So she had to stop herself from getting too attached to them, or she'd crumple under the pressure of her job.

It took time, but she managed. She still can't help herself and will sometimes spend days after an arena upset in a way that she constantly berates herself for. It happens usually with the younger tributes, but sometimes there will be one that sticks out more then usual. Whenever she gets upset over the way the Games are run, she hates herself. She feels like she's a disappointment to her family and herself, and that she's not a very good citizen of the Capitol. It's one of the few things she's ashamed of, and it's something she desperately wants to take to her grave.

SAMPLES
Thread: [The feed turns on to Sybille looking remarkably unimpressed, but dressed to the nines. She always dresses well, because this is the Capitol, but this is even better then how she usually looks. She spared no expense on this outfit, and she's going to make sure it's obvious, holding her wrist out so there's a clear view of her from the chest up.]

Good evening, Capitol.

[She smirks, and the legs of the spider on necklace seem to be moving. She doesn't typically wear moving accessories, but tonight is a special occasion.]

I'm not sure how many of you know this, but tonight I'm doing something special for my tributes. I know these games have been...hard, and that goes for all districts. Unfortunately, the other districts aren't my problem. [She chuckles, raising a hand to brush back her hair, but it's impeccably styled and doesn't need to be fixed. She spent a long time making sure she looked absolutely flawless.]

It's more unfortunate for the other tributes, of course. It's fortunate for me, because most other districts aren't as good as mine is. Tonight, I've decided to my tributes out into the Capitol. I know it's not standard procedure, but with the next arena so soon and with these Games already being so different I figured I could do whatever I wanted, and that you deserved a glimpse of what the Capitol is like outside of that tower.

We'll be leaving in an hour. Be prepared, because tardiness is just rude, and that's not something we tolerate here.

Prose: She's scared, and that's not something she is often. But. This isn't right. She's not a tribute, she has no district to fight for, no family or friends or co-workers depending on her to help make their lives just a little better. She's not a criminal, and she's never whispered of revolution or cried for change. She's never sympathized with the districts.

So why is she here? What has she done to deserve being thrown into the Games? Her heart pounds in her chest, and she takes a deep breath. Can she survive? She's never been in a fight before, unless you count petty catfights at party. She could play dirty, but...She's so used to her life now. She swallows, taking a deep breath and lifting her chin. She can't let the Gamemakers see her fear, even if they already know.

“I'm not sure what you're thinking.” She says a silent thanks for whatever is keeping her voice steady. “I don't know if you think this will be more entertaining,” she says that with thinly veiled contempt, straightening her back and brushing a hand over the handles of some throwing knives, “but I think you should be prepared for some...disappointment, and maybe a bit of public outcry.” Her hand drops, and she rests it on her hip. “Especially if you plan on pulling in more people who did nothing to deserve this.”
